Step 1: Configure your Magento Source Store
Enter your current Magento store URL. You can connect your store by either providing the Store Admin Access for an auto-upload of the connection bridge or by manually uploading the bridge files via FTP/SFTP to your root directory.
Step 2: Select CSV File as your Target
Choose "CSV File" from the dropdown menu as your target platform. Since this is a file-based migration, you won't need to provide store credentials for the destination; instead, the system will prepare the data for download.
Step 3: Select Data Entities to Export
Choose the specific data you wish to migrate, such as Products, Customers, Orders, and Categories. You can select all entities or pick only the specific datasets required for your CSV file.
Step 4: Choose Additional Options
Customize your export by selecting options like preserving Customer and Order IDs, or migrating customer passwords. These settings ensure the data in your CSV file matches your Magento store's structure perfectly.
Step 5: Launch a Free Demo Migration
Run a test migration to export a small subset of data. This allows you to review the structure of the CSV file and ensure all fields are mapped correctly before proceeding with the full transfer.
Step 6: Start the Full Migration
Once satisfied with the demo results, initiate the full migration. After the process is complete, you will be able to download your Magento data in a structured CSV format.
Data Entities Supported for Migration
The following entities can be exported from Magento to your CSV file:
- Products: Name, SKU, Full Description, Status, Price, Special Price, Weight, and Variants.
- Product Categories: Name, Description, and Status.
- Customers: First Name, Last Name, Email, Customer Group, and Address.
- Orders: Order Date, Status, ID, Product Details, Quantities, and Total Price.
- Manufacturers: Name and associated products.
- Coupons: Name, Coupon Code, and Discount Type.
- Reviews: Created Date, Rate, User Name, Comment, and Product.
- Taxes: Tax Class, Rates, and Settings.
How long does it take to export Magento to CSV?
The duration depends on the volume of data in your Magento store. Small stores can be exported in minutes, while larger databases with tens of thousands of products and orders may take a few hours.
Will my Magento store go offline during the process?
No, your store remains fully functional. Cart2Cart only reads the data from your database, so your customers can continue to browse and make purchases without any interruption.
Can I migrate customer passwords to the CSV file?
Yes, by selecting the "Migrate customers' passwords" option, Cart2Cart will export the hashed password data, allowing you to maintain customer login credentials if you move to a compatible platform later.
What is a Demo Migration?
A Demo Migration is a free trial that transfers a limited amount of data (usually about 10-20 entities) to the CSV format. It allows you to check the data structure and quality before committing to the full migration.
