Migrating from Magento to Big Cartel involves a straightforward, five-step process within our migration wizard:

Select Magento as your Source Store. Enter your current store's URL and establish a connection. You can use the Cart2Cart Connection Bridge by uploading it to your Magento root directory via FTP, or provide administrative access for an automated setup. -
Step 2: Setup your Target Cart
Choose Big Cartel as your Target Store. Provide your store URL and the required API credentials to allow Cart2Cart to securely import your data into the new platform. -
Step 3: Select Data Entities and Options
Choose the specific data types you want to move—such as products, categories, and customers. You can also select additional migration options like clearing data on the target store or preserving order IDs. -
Step 4: Run a Free Demo Migration
Launch a Demo Migration to see how the service works. Cart2Cart will transfer a limited number of entities to your Big Cartel store in about 15 minutes, allowing you to inspect the results before committing to the full transfer. -
Step 5: Launch Full Migration
Once you are satisfied with the demo results, initiate the Full Migration. You can close your browser and wait for the email notification once your Magento data is fully successfully moved to Big Cartel.
Data Entities You Can Transfer
Based on the capabilities of both platforms, you can migrate the following entities from Magento to Big Cartel:
- Products: Name, SKU, Full Description, Status, Price, Special Price, Weight, and Product Categories.
- Product Categories: Name, Description, and Status.
- Customers: First Name, Last Name, Email, and Customer Groups.
- Orders: Order Date, Order Status, Order Products (Name, SKU), Subtotal Price, Shipping Price, and Total Price.
- Manufacturers: Name.
- Taxes: Tax Class and Tax Rates.
- Stores: Store Name and configuration settings.
Will my Magento store be down during the migration?
No. Your Magento store remains fully operational during the data transfer. Customers can continue to browse and shop without any interruption.
